TUBUS
Liquid Helium Transfer Line
Connecting the 100-litre liquid helium dewar with the cryo sample holder in the TEM through our transfer line TUBUS.

Flexibility and Control
TUBUS is a liquid helium transfer line designed to maximize flexibility and efficiency while minimizing vibrations transmitted to experiments. Given the energy-intensive process of helium liquefaction and its value as a resource, TUBUS is engineered to reduce helium boil-off, thereby conserving cooling resources. Additionally, TUBUS facilitates easy helium gas recovery through an integrated helium-recovery port.
The transfer line's flexible tubing allows users to attach it to the cryostat effortlessly. TUBUS also features a remotely controllable needle valve for regulating helium flow rate, which is particularly beneficial for cryo-TEM experiments, where vibrations from personnel near the microscope can compromise resolution. Researchers can monitor and control the transfer process remotely using the control unit, significantly reducing experimental disturbances.
Reducing Noise
Quick Connection
Finally, a set of bellows located at the end prevents vibrations in the line and helium dewar from being transmitted to the experimental setup. In order to maximize resolution in sensitive experiments, we recommend combining TUBUS with our CORVUS low-vibration stage.
